Balasubramani S, is a passionate photographer and cinematography student with a deep-rooted love for storytelling. Growing up in Tamil Nadu, his fascination with cinema was sparked during his school days, where he was captivated by Tamil films screened in the hostel. This early exposure inspired him to pursue his dream of becoming a cinematographer.

After exploring various film colleges, he joined the Tamil Nadu MGR Film and Television Institute, where he found a community of like-minded peers, united by creativity, resilience, and a shared passion for film.

The history of Thirupaachi Aaruva

This photographic exhibition delves into the history and significance of the Thirupaachi Aaruva, a sword that became a symbol of resistance during British rule, particularly under Rani Velu Nachiyar of Sivaganga. Through a series of images, I explore the sword’s craftsmanship, its cultural importance, and the heroic figures like Udayaperumal Kavundar who carried it in the fight for freedom. The Aaruva stands not just as a weapon, but as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice that fueled India’s struggle for independence.
