Cecilia'ed
Cecilia’ed (2018- ongoing) is an artistic intervention by Indu Antony that reimagines and disrupts the deeply entrenched gendered dynamics in public spaces. Drawing from feminist geography, the project interrogates how public and neighbourhood spaces, often marked as 'unsafe' or inaccessible for women, are constructed and perpetuated through societal norms and collective behavior.
The project employs the politics of herd mentality and the allure of celebrity culture to challenge and transform these normative notions of gender. By engaging with communities and the very spaces that restrict women's presence, Cecilia’ed turns the focus onto the performative and symbolic acts that reshape these environments, making them inclusive and equitable.
Through this bold and subversive initiative, Indu Antony reclaims these spaces, creating an ongoing dialogue about safety, accessibility, and gender. The project not only questions the status quo but actively carves pathways for women to assert their presence in spaces where they have historically been marginalized or excluded.
