Ioanna is a Greek visual artist and PhD Researcher with recent solo shows in Tokyo, Melbourne, Belfast, Braga, Greece and Berlin. Her work has been acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Collection. Her monograph ‘The Truth is in the Soil’ is published by GOST Books (London, 2022).

The Mark of a Terrible Sun
An intimate portrait of the lands and people alongside the Pacific Ring of Fire, a 40,000- km zone including roughly 90% of all earthquakes and 75% of all active volcanoes in the world. This first part is realized in Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands, under the lava of ongoing volcanic activity and the historical remnants of the Pacific war in the region, and is concerned with the obscure traces of the disaster as an interspace dealing with ideas of destruction and survival and the exploration of heterotopias that may creatively synthesize new composites of interpretation.
