In October 2021, Rie was attacked by fifteen men for being who she is. This story is an attempt to highlight her resilience to be herself in a society as rigid as India's. Rie set out to reclaim public spaces with confidence, dealing with people and anxiety one step at a time.
This is a story of a hate crime and sexual abuse survivor, a 1st generational learner who made it into UCL and a story of a Dalit trans non-binary person in India. It's about the courage to face the trauma of the past yet still keep going.
