Invisible, with no smell or taste. Was this substance in the water I used everyday? Is it still in the water coming out of our taps? What harm have these substances in my body done to me and my children?
This is the story of water pollution in Okinawa, Japan. The groundwater has been contaminated for decades by a carcinogenic chemical, PFAS, which is found in the firefighting foam regularly used on military bases. The story of invisible, complex pollution, is told through the testimony of people who have used and cherished this water for all their lives, unaware of the contamination.
