Camera and the Queer Image

'Camera and The Queer Image — Chennai' explores identity, belonging, and visibility within India’s queer community using paper negatives as both medium and metaphor. Paper negatives, existing between print and negative, reflect the fluidity of queer identities navigating a world of rigid definitions.
This project documents Chennai’s queer individuals through black-and-white portraits, collaboratively created in spaces around the city. The work challenges erasure and celebrates resilience, reclaiming a historically overlooked process. It invites viewers to reflect on queer life, encouraging empathy and fostering a more inclusive society.
