A Displaced Hope
Djinns, supernatural entities of Islamic belief are central to the practices at Feroz Shah Kotla, a 14th-century Delhi citadel. Thousands visit weekly, writing petitions, praying and offering money, seeking solutions to their woes. Exploited by self-proclaimed Godmen, devotees face extortion and, in cases of exorcism, women endure brutal treatment. These practices highlight the intersection of superstition and human rights violations. A Displaced Hope examines these contradictions, blending personal narratives with Djinn worship and the erasure of Muslim spaces in post-colonial India.
