‘Photography Strictly Prohibited’ is a retrospective curated by his friends to pay a tribute to Navroze Contractor, his life and his work.

For Navroze, photography, like many of his other passions, was a tool to enrich his life and the way he looked at the world. The photo-exhibition, which has been curated from 20,000 photographs, spans five decades covering his expansive interests in travel, musicians, performance, portraits of artists, filmmakers and landscapes.

Along with the exhibition a book, titled ‘Photography Strictly Prohibited’, will be available which contains a collection of some of his photographs, interviews about his work, excerpts from his own writings and a few articles by people who knew him or worked with him for a long time. It is an attempt to present a person who was much more than the sum of his photographs, cinematography, writings or his absolute love for riding motorcycles.

The exhibition is curated by Anuj Ambalal, photographer, Himanshu Panchal, photographer and filmmaker

Sanjiv Shah. The book has been published by Navjivan Trust, Ahmedabad.
