Between the Wrinkles

Kiranmayi Veeramani, a photographer and educator, loves to listen to her grandparents reminisce stories from the era that they lived through. She wondered if her grandparents held an abundance of history, what kind of memoirs might the elderly on the other side of the ocean we share have? - the untold stories concealed within the wrinkles of time. What valuable life lessons can the current generation learn from these elders who stand as the witness of time? 

Her work “Between the Wrinkles", is an assemblage of oral histories, photographs, and recordings gathered through conversations with Sri Lanka's elderly.

ARTIST BIO

Kiranmayi Veeramani, an engineering graduate, discovered her passion for photography and is exploring the art in numerous arenas. She is a freelance photographer and a practicing cinematographer who has been fascinated by photographs since childhood, loves to capture life's raw and real moments. She is passionate about teaching photography to the younger generation and empowering them to be thoughtful visual storytellers.

கிரண்மயி வீரமணி, பொறியியல் பட்டதாரியான இவர், சிறு வயதிலிருந்தே புகைப்படங்களால் ஈர்க்கப்பட்டு, புகைப்படம் எடுப்பதில் தீராத ஆர்வம் கொண்டார். பல்வேறு தளங்களில் கலை சார்ந்த தேடல்களை மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறார். சுயாதீனப் புகைப்படக் கலைஞராகவும், வளர்ந்து வரும் ஒளிப்பதிவாளராகவும் செயல்பட்டு வருகிறார். வாழ்க்கையின் தருணங்களை அலங்காரமின்றி அதன் உயிரோட்டத்துடன் பதிவு செய்வது இவரின் விருப்பமாகும். இளைய தலைமுறையினருக்கு புகைப்படக் கலையை கற்பிப்பதிலும், சிந்தனைமிக்க காட்சிக் கதைசொல்லிகளாக அவர்களை மேம்படுத்துவதிலும் ஆர்வமாக உள்ளார்.
