Production assistant Intern (CLOSED)
Duration: 6months
Location: CPB Lighthouse, Kottivakkam, Chennai
Salary: Rs 15,000 per month plus conveyance for project related travel
The Chennai Photo Biennale Foundation is looking for a motivated candidate to join the team for a 6-month internship. The primary role is to ideate, coordinate, and manage the production for the Foundation's programs and engagements. This dynamic position involves overseeing a wide range of tasks to ensure the successful execution of events and programs, both on ground and online.
You will be mainly working in the production of our upcoming show Shared Tides and working on research and development related to CPB’s product lines.
Shared Tides, a residency showcase will happen in Chennai in a historical building in the city centre during the first 10 days of December. The exhibition is a result of a month-long residency where two-artists from India and two-artists from Sri Lanka travelled to each others countries to photograph and document their proposed projects. In phase 2, this exhibition will travel to Jaffna in Sri Lanka in March 2024.
The project is initiated with the Goethe-Institut in Chennai and Sri Lanka as well Kalam in Jaffna and will be presented in collaboration with Madras Art Weekend.
This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on as we build an exhibition from curation, to spatial, furniture, lighting and graphic design as well as planning and executing programs involving artists and collaborators. We are looking for self-motivated individuals, who are keen to work in the field and looking to learn. The ideal candidate is someone with a background or skill set in event production, architecture or construction and project management. Proficiency in spoken English and Tamil is mandatory.
The roles and responsibilities are outlined below.
Production Coordination:
Coordinate and oversee the production of Foundation programs and events, ensuring smooth execution from concept to completion.
Collaborate closely with mentors, artists, collaborators, vendors, partners, and students associated with the Foundation to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Manage all logistical aspects of program production, including scheduling, venue arrangements, equipment setup, and coordination of resources.
To coordinate the production of Shared tides show at the Luz House, Chennai.
Venue Management:
Coordinate with various venues in Chennai/India for event setup, logistics, and technical requirements.
Supervise on-ground arrangements to guarantee a professional and engaging experience for attendees.
R&D:
Work on various new ideas for merch and product lines of the foundation.
Find vendors and move ideas to sampling and onwards into mass production.
Contribute ideas and designs to the CPB product line.
